Stu Hayner's The Biggest Little Magic Kit
Bowman's "Clipped" Effect: Magically link two paper clips and a rubber band, using a dollar bill. Start by getting two paper clips, a #19 rubber band and a dollar bill. Fold the bill in half lengthwise. Put the rubber band over the center of the bill (figure 1). Now make the bill into a S shape (fig.2) but do not fold it, if you are using a new or crisp bill that will help. Now for the only "tricky" part. You need to move the rubber band (fig.3) around the one end. Place the paper clips on the bill, just two layers. Place them where the bill touches (fig. 4) and push them down (fig. 5). Have your spectator hold on to the rubber band, and you pull the ends of the bill, sharply. And the paper clips will jump off and be linked on the rubber band. Ta -da.
The Bunny Bill Effect: The magician ( that's you ) shows a folded dollar bill in the shape of a hat. With a wave of the hand and a little squeeze you make a rabbit appear. How the trick works: You get a folded "Kidspree Bill." If you would like to learn to fold this yourself, write Magic, Inc. of Chicago, IL, and ask for the book Bunny Bill. I think it's $10. But to work this bill just place it between your fingers and thumb, bunny up (fig..7). Now fold the bunny back and clip it under your first finger (fig.9). Show this to your friends, and to make the rabbit appear you just squeeze and the way the bill is folded, the bunny will pop up.
CRAYON MIND READING Effect: The magician ( that's you ) shows how he/she can tell the color of a crayon without looking at it, behind their back. But that would be impossible so it must be mind reading. Preparation: You need a pack of crayons. The Old Chicago 4 pack will work best only because there are only 4 and it's easy to tell the colors. The Secret: Tell the spectators what you are going to do. Place both hands behind your back. Tell them to mix the crayons and hand one to you behind your back, then hide the remaining crayons so you can't see them. After they say they have hidden them, turn around to face them and as you do, just as your hands can not be seen, write on your thumbnail. Now as you bring that hand out in front you can see the color of the crayon still behind your back. The REAL Secret: Remember you must have a reason to bring your hand so you can see it, so the best way is to point at a spectator and say "Did you see the color? Yes? OK don't say anything, just think of the color, over and over in your mind." As you bring your hand up right between you, at arms length, the thumb nail is facing you and the spectator thinks you're looking at them, not your thumb.
