First use your pump to fill up a balloon only half way. You will need to "burp" the balloon, (let out a little air). This will help make it softer all over, and a little shorter, that's OK. To tie the balloon, the more "end" you keep while pumping the balloon up, the better. Stretch out the "end" (see arrow in fig. 1). Then pull it around your first and second finger (see fig. 2). Try to separate these fingers, which is not easy to do until you get more strength in them, and push the "end" between them (fig. 3).

You will see that one twist will never hold by itself. First use one hand to hold - I use my left hand - and one to twist - that would be my right. The first twist will be the nose (fig. 4). Use your holding hand to squeeze where you will twist, it helps. You must hold it with your holding hand. Then one ear (fig. 5) but don't let go. Just fold the balloon up (fig. 6) and hold with your holding hand. Squeeze with your left thumb and twist the ears together (fig. 7) then (fig. 8). The next twist will be the neck.
